Know limit of gold can carry in India without custom duty fee
As of the official rules,
- Male passenger can carry Gold in the form of jewelry of a value up to Rs. 5000 which comes to an approximate weight of 20 grams
- Female passenger can carry Gold in the form of jewelry of a value up to Rs. 1 Lakh which comes to an approximate weight of 40 grams
The above is for duty free, meaning no customs clearance charges.
However, the maximum gold carried by a person is 1 kg only (includes biscuits), subject to customs duty of 10.3% . The customs will charge duty based on the gold rate on the date of travel as notified to them by the Government
